5 June lo-fi artists from the Lofilians

5 lo-fi artists

Recently joining the Lofilians squad and I found myself surrounded with great lo-fi artists, so I decided to give a listen to them. Honest reviews coming up, scroll for fresh beats.

Lo-fi artists – Sane

Let’ start with Sane from the US, the latest member in the squad. I found his beat Mellowtonin’ on YouTube through his links shared.

Honestly, it was a surprise. I mean I did not find too many videos on his YT channel. Seems like Sane is more into Spotify. Still, this song grabbed my attention as I liked the snares being just harsh enough to break the mellow electric piano melody. Adding some trap-ish rims from the middle of the song energises the beat a bit. Dope one!

Lo-fi artists – KayCee

Next up, KayCee from Canada. His linktree was already more complex and offered some videos either. My choice landed on “under the starlight”. That is such a lo-fi title I just had to check out.

Like almost instantly landed. Beats are pretty soft, whereas the pad in the background is dominant but not overshadowing the rest. What I liked in this lo-fi song is the simplicity. From the title that is exactly what I was expected. Fun thing that if the drum part would be removed, this song could be an oriental meditative chill song to my point of view. Was a pleasure to listen.

Lo-fi artists – Vinicius Gigante

Rolling forward to the South: Vinicius Gigante from Brasil with Water.

Am I to listen so guitars? Great. I love the increased amount of reverb here. Making the beat a bit more mellow and soul compare to KayCee-s lo-fi beat. I feel like watching the sunset moments of a ’90 action movie to be honest. Even visioning the ocean and some seagulls. Ha-ha, I wonder what the intention of the artist was, but this is my picture of this song. So, well, don’t be mislead by the cover, which is a bit too neon for me. This song is truly a chill-out one.

Lo-fi artists – Jecks

With number four, Jecks and Fireflies.

Back to the more mainstream lo-fi. That is instantly clear for the listener. I have to say I chose this beat based on the title. As a great fan of Asian culture, fireflies are returning symbols in different animes and even books. As for the song, the style is a bit similar to KayCee’s song. I loved the mellow but dominant pad as a base with well-tuned rims (I guess, based on my ears), which makes the beats softer compare to snares. Kicks are pretty below (or at least not noticeable on my speaker), which made the song even more relaxed. Like a night time sleep beat. Great job!

Lo-fi artists – NameAsFlowers

Lastly NamesAsFlowers. A bit of a trick here as he joined the Lofilians in May (31st) not in June, but hey. I checked him in June. Now, his linktree was quite OK, having a YT channel is also good, but auto subscribe link added. Hahh, convince me with your beats mate!

After this start my choice landed on “Uncomfortable Wait”

What really surprised me is the J.Dilla like daring beats. Most artists above tend to quantise their songs a bit more firm. Which is quite OK. People tend to relax easier with structured rhythms. Still, lo-fi music does offer some imperfection. Great solution for that. For my taste I found the drums a bit quite but of course it is a matter of taste.

Thanks for checking them. Good news for the end of the article. I have just released a new video “Ever Grande” from Ruby album.
