I am back with another serene lofi single titled Kisaragi. Building on the themes from the previous release (Mutsuki), Kisaragi captures the essence of February with a cozy and comforting instrumental beat. As part of the ongoing exploration of traditional Japanese months, this track is available for free download on my Bandcamp page.
What is Kisaragi? A Month of Changes
“Kisaragi” (Japanese: 如月) translates to the “Month of Change” or “Month of Wearing More Clothes,” reflecting the transition period as winter begins to shift towards spring. In this track, I aimed to embody that sense of change and transformation through soothing lofi beats. The single’s title song features gentle piano melodies, hip-hop beats, and a relaxed rhythm that captures the tranquil, yet cold atmosphere of February. Good news, this time I feature a B-Side as well, Zazen Serenity. Genre-wise it matches the title song but adds a bit of moodiness to the single.
The Inspiration Behind Kisaragi
Inspired by the concept of renewal and change, Kisaragi draws from the sounds and vibes that define this time of the year. Using the trusty PO-33 KO, I crafted an oriental lofi vibe instrumental beat with a hint of hip-hop flavor. The soundpack used in this track dates back to the production of the Wabi-Sabi LP in 2021, bringing a nostalgic touch to the new composition. The mastering process added refined punchiness and depth, giving Kisaragi a unique identity.
Behind the Production of Kisaragi
Creating Kisaragi and Zazen Serenity was a rewarding journey. I focused on blending traditional sounds with my signature lofi style, using tools like the PO-33 KO and Ableton Live. The cover image for the single is a photo I took during my travels in Japan. I believe it adds a personal touch to the visual representation of the track. The goal was to create a beat that not only embodies the essence of February but also provides a cozy and comforting soundtrack for your daily life.
