Why Venus Pop?
Venus Pop was inspired by the title of Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop live action, second episode.
Originally I composed the song around the time I was watching Cowboy Bebop live action on Netflix. But it took me some time until I added the b-side songs and finished it as a complete release. I guess no surprise to add that more to come, hopefully this year already.
With regards to Venus Pop, it is a true laid down, lofi EP with tons of vinyl vibe and acoustic beats. I enjoyed producing it on my PO-33 KO. Read more about my pocket lofi instrument through the link.
As for the cover: I was moved by Tokyo when I first travelled there. As a result, I used one of my photos from the trip. In fact that was a restaurant we went with my wife in 2019. I believed this is the perfect photo for an EP cover. Of course, I added my effects to make it a bit more grainy. After all, I guess this retro film vibe goes well with the space lofi inspired music.
