Fumizuki: A Lofi Soundscape for July’s Poetry
In Japan’s traditional calendar, July is known as Fumizuki (文月) – the “Month of Writing.” Historically tied to poetry, literature, and the Tanabata festival, it’s a season where reflection meets celebration. My latest lofi single, Fumizuki, carries this poetic essence into sound: weaving serene beats with a touch of summer’s warmth.
Much like the months before it – Uzuki, Satsuki, and Minazuki – this release continues the seasonal cycle, capturing July’s atmosphere through tranquil melodies and subtle rhythms.
Crafting Fumizuki with the PO-33 KO
Using the trusty PO-33 KO, I built a track that balances introspection and simpliness. The melodies carry a contemplative tone, while the percussive textures nod to the lighthearted flow of summer nights. The result is a calming yet inspiring lofi journey, perfect for writing, studying, or simply enjoying a warm July evening.
Introducing the B-Side: Kenshō
As with previous singles, Fumizuki comes with a B-side. Titled Kenshō (見性) – a term often translated as “seeing one’s true nature” in Zen philosophy – the track offers a more meditative, introspective vibe. While Fumizuki channels outward expression and creativity, Kenshō turns inward, inviting deeper focus and reflection.
Together, they form a balanced pair: one celebrating the written word and poetic tradition, the other guiding listeners toward inner calm.
Continuing the Seasonal Journey
With Fumizuki, the lofi calendar project moves into the heart of summer. From the blossoms of Uzuki to the rains of Minazuki, each release paints a different seasonal soundscape. Fumizuki now adds its poetic hues to the collection – a gentle soundtrack for long summer days and starlit nights.
