  • [Single] Komorebi

After a long break, I’m excited to return with new lofi beats that combine fresh production with an inspiring theme close to my heart. Komorebi is the first single from my latest EP, Sakura Sketches, and it’s available now for free on my Bandcamp page.

Komorebi: The First Single from Sakura Sketches

If you’re a fan of relaxing lofi edits and chilled-out beats, Komorebi is a perfect addition to your playlist. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of cherry blossoms and the changing seasons, this track captures the essence of nature’s rebirth during sakura season. With subtle oriental influences, you’ll hear soft piano melodies, atmospheric pads, and a mellow rhythm that blends the tranquility of spring with the chill vibes of lofi music.

What is Komorebi? A Japanese Concept in Music

“Komorebi” is a Japanese term that describes the effect of sunlight filtering through leaves, a beautiful metaphor for the way light interacts with the natural world. In the track, you’ll hear layers of delicate sounds that mimic how light dances through trees during sakura season, creating a serene and uplifting atmosphere. This concept inspired me to blend traditional vibe and modern elements, combining oriental sounds with my signature lofi beats.

If you’ve been following my music, you might notice that Komorebi feels like a natural progression from previous EPs like Demon Festival and Wabi-Sabi. It’s an evolution of the chillhop, oriental, and sakura vibes I’ve explored over the years, with new techniques and creative twists on the production.

    Satori: A New B-Side Track

As a special bonus, the single includes a B-side track titled Satori. This track explores the concept of sudden enlightenment, adding a deeper layer to the Sakura Sketches theme. While Komorebi captures the delicate beauty of nature, Satori delves into a more introspective soundscape, with intricate instrumental choices and lush sound textures. It’s a perfect complement to the single, providing an opportunity to experience a different side of this lofi project.

Behind the Production: A Blend of Oriental Sounds and Lofi Beats

Creating Komorebi was an inspiring journey, with a production process that stayed true to my style while incorporating new elements. Using tools like Koala Sampler and Ableton Live, I blended piano, warm pads, and field recordings to create a track that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The oriental influence shines through in the choice of instruments, with light touches of traditional sounds, providing a dreamy atmosphere perfect for study or relaxation.

The mastering process was a challenge, as I worked with EQs and dynamic range to ensure the track’s warmth and clarity. This careful balance is crucial to the track’s feeling of intimacy, and it’s something I’m proud of as it reflects the depth of sakura season—beauty in both the fleeting moments and the lasting impressions it leaves.

  • [Single] Mutsuki

mutsuki lofi single by Latte Chill

Mutsuki (Japanese: 睦月) means “Month of Love” or “Month of Affection”. It is the traditional name for January and I celebrated it with a beat I composed during the month.

The single is free to grab, simply click on the cover above. Mutsuki rocks the PO-33 KO, offering an oriental lofi vibe instrumental beat with hip-hop spice. I used an old soundpack I used during the production of Wabi-Sabi LP, back in 2021. Give it a spin as well until I release the next beat. Mastering differs slightly though. We all advance over the years, right? Wabi-Sabi was more laidback, Mutsuki offers slightly more punchiness and bass with a more upbeat tempo. I guess it also came down to the title and the concept. Love is like making your heart pound faster. So a chill beat to raise the tempo slightly. Still, it matches your coffee alright.

The cover image is a photo I took during my trip to Tokyo back in 2019. I hope you like it. I believe it matches the title pretty well. And yes, essentially I do my best to have more new PO-33 KO beats in the future. I hope I will have the time to fulfill them for you.

  • [Field Notes] Old Piano

I will share some unique piano sounds with you today: Old Piano field notes from Szeged — a Sample Pack.

Bring a new dimension to your music with Old Piano from Szeged. It is a carefully crafted sample pack that delivers the authentic, haunting resonance of an old piano recorded in Szeged.

This release is a part of my ongoing effort to provide distinctive, royalty-free sounds that inspire creativity and experimentation in your productions.

About the Old Piano Field Notes

Recorded on-site with a high-quality field recorder, these samples capture the warmth and character of a vintage piano. Each sound is concise — 1-2 seconds in length — making them ideal (and lightweight) for looping or as unique keyboard layers in your beats. The pack works especially well with dawless hardware samplers and on-the-go software. Basically, I mean gadgets like the Koala Sampler or the Pocket Operator 33, letting you reshape these sounds to suit your style and expertise.

In case you would be interested, I used my Tascam field microphone I usually take with me during my trips. Read more about it in the Pocket Operator article above. It is a relatively inexpensive model but suits well for pocket music producers.

    Download and Make It Yours

Old Piano from Szeged is free to download on my Bandcamp page. Simply click on the cover art to access it. I’m also working on other sample packs with various ambient field recordings, so stay tuned for new releases soon!

If you use these piano samples, I’d love to hear your creations! Please share your tracks with me, and don’t forget to check out more of my music in the ‘Music’ section above.
