Why City Lo-fi?
In essence the title City Lo-fi reflects on my art in many aspects. Originally I started Latte Chill project to compose song far from my band’s genre (rock, metal, punk). So I started experimenting myself with electro beats, instrumental songs etc. As a result, I soon ended up composing chill songs and lately lo-fi beats. However I never limited myself to slow pieces only.
Urban Lo-fi is an example for composing lo-fi house beats based on past travels in different cities. And now: City Lo-fi!
As I just released Urban Lo-fi recently, I was not pressuring myself totally starting up a new project for the house beats. Nor releasing anything similar until I have a more clear picture about this genre. Nevertheless I composed bunch of new sketches not fitting my regular Latte Chill image. As a result: City Lo-fi was born. Quite quick!
Produced and recorded live?
Yes, fully live. All songs were produced on one little gadget, the PO-33 KO that is an amazing sampler. One could say the best solution to create music easily on the go. For that reason in case of City Lo-fi, half of the songs on this EP were produced during my trip to Nidri (part of Lefkada in Greece). On the go! In other words: up in the air and by the shore. Crazy life isn’t it. As an illustration, a couple of years before I needed a laptop with DAW and midi boards to compose. Nowadays all my record set fits into a small back with a bottle of water!
Returning home I mastered the beats with Ableton. I added some reverb and lo-fi compression. I used also vinyl imitation to offer true lo-fi warmth. And nothing more. My mate listened to it, helping my work. And I was uploading it already. Similar to Urban Lo-fi, all beats will be free.

I would recommend to use earphones. I master most beats for earphone use. That does not mean it sounds very different on speakers. Only bass might be stronger.
