About the Sketches
After quite a long break, Sakura Sketches marks my return to chill beats. This lofi EP, therefore, needed to feature an inspiring topic.
So, I turned a bit to myself and explored the different topics that inspired me over the past years. As we were edging toward the end of winter, I realized that sakura was on the edge – let it be the topic for the beats.
The rest is history, I used Koala Sampler mainly for the production on the go and opted for Ozone to master the raw tracks in Ableton Live. Essentially as I record the stems as one simple wav file, post-mastering took much more time and hassling a lot with EQs. Still, I like sketching on the go, I have much more inspiration.
EPs that inspired Sakura Sketches
Let me start the list with Demon Festival, my first EP sketched on Koala Sampler back in 2021. Pagoda and Color Scheme feature the traditional side of oriental chill beats with more koto and shamisen among the instruments. But later on, I added several other LPs and EPs including Wabi-Sabi, Moon Festival – a collaboration EP -, and Shogunate.
