Nagatsuki: A Lofi Soundscape for September’s Long Nights

In Japan’s traditional calendar, Nagatsuki (長月) marks September as the “Long Month.” The name refers to the lengthening nights of autumn — a time when the air cools, leaves begin to turn, and evenings invite reflection. My new lofi single, captures this shift with mellow textures, warm atmospheres, and a touch of nostalgia for the fading summer.

Following the seasonal flow of Satsuki, Minazuki, Fumizuki, and Hazuki, Nagatsuki continues the journey into the quieter, more contemplative side of the year.

Crafting Nagatsuki with the PO-33 KO

Built on the PO-33 KO, Nagatsuki layers gentle melodies with understated beats. The sound palette blends soft keys, subtle pads, and minimal percussive elements, evoking the stillness of early autumn evenings. It’s a track for winding down, journaling, or simply enjoying the peaceful rhythm of longer nights.

    The B-Side: Yotoku

Accompanying Nagatsuki is a B-side titled Yotoku (余得), meaning “an unexpected gain” or “additional benefit.” The track mirrors the surprise beauty of autumn’s early evenings — when cooler air, vivid sunsets, and quiet moments bring unexpected clarity. While Nagatsuki offers calm and steady flow, Yotoku introduces a more playful, wandering energy, complementing the single with contrast.

Together, they create a balance: one celebrating September’s steady nights, the other capturing its unexpected treasures.

    Continuing the Seasonal Journey

With Nagatsuki, the lofi calendar project enters autumn, moving from the lush leaves of Hazuki into the deepening evenings of September. The single and its B-side mark a turning point — where the warmth of summer gives way to introspection, slower rhythms, and quiet moments.

    Where to Listen

  • [Single] Hazuki

Hazuki: A Lofi Soundscape for August’s Leaves

In Japan’s traditional calendar, Hazuki (葉月) marks August as the “Month of Leaves.” It symbolizes the quiet turning point of summer — when the heat lingers, but the first whispers of autumn begin to appear. My new lofi single, Hazuki, channels this seasonal shift with mellow tones, warm textures, and a contemplative energy.

Building on the path of previous singles, Hazuki continues the cycle of seasonal soundscapes with a focus on nature’s slow transformation.

Crafting Hazuki with the PO-33 KO

As part of the concept, Hazuki was created with the PO-33 KO blending soft, layered melodies with subtle beats that evoke the stillness of late summer. The track carries both serenity and anticipation — mirroring the moment when the vibrant greenery of August begins to prepare for autumn’s change. It’s music for evenings when the air feels heavy, yet quietly transitional.

    The B-Side: Kyode wa Arimasen

Accompanying Hazuki is a B-side titled Kyode wa Arimasen (巨で はありません). The track offers a more minimal, stripped-down atmosphere, inviting listeners to focus on delicate details rather than sweeping soundscapes. If Hazuki paints August in broad strokes, Kyode wa Arimasen whispers it in fine lines — a contrasting perspective that complements the main single.

    Continuing the Seasonal Journey

Hazuki marks the midpoint of the seasonal calendar project, following the rains of Minazuki and the poetic warmth of Fumizuki. Together with its B-side, the single deepens the exploration of how music can reflect time, memory, and the natural flow of the year.

    Where to Listen

Hazuki and Kyode wa Arimasen are now available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, YouTube, and Bandcamp. Add them to your playlists, share them with friends, and let these tracks accompany your August moments.

Whether you’re winding down after a long day or watching the leaves shift toward autumn, Hazuki offers a contemplative lofi soundtrack for the season.
