  • Walking Stick

Walking Stick anime wallpaper was inspired by a little beat released as part of Stock Stories Extended in the early months of 2022.

About Walking Stick – the wallpaper

It was shot by my Honor 20 Pro smartphone during a little walk in the centre of Budapest. It was around last December if I recall it well. We spent some time in a restaurant with my wife. This place was shot because I intend to come back later. I mean that chill was really the mood I prefer. People had their coffee talking with each other sitting outside on a warm winter day. Looks chillful right?

I processed the photo later using Lightroom and Snapseed as well. I intended to offer a draw like vibe spiced with some anime feeling. Essentially I know it is far from a proper drawing, still I guess offers a vibe.

About Walking Stick – the song

Well, this is how my wallpaper (and photo) art meets my music. With Latte Chill project, I publish bunch of lo-fi and chill-out beats every year. This time I had some reworks on older pieces where I was unhappy with the overall sound. Stock Stories was reworked in order to sound better. I even added 4 new songs doubling the length of the EP.

Walking Stick is one of the new beats I released this January. I believe the beat has a cute little “on the go” vibe which kind of describes my feeling when I walk in the city. As I took this photo on the go, I felt like the songs described the vibe perfectly.

  • What does lofi mean?

    lo-fi article

In this article I will focus only for the question: What does lofi mean? I try to offer an overview on this matter based on some valuable links and my personal point of view as a lo-fi music producer and fan of lo-fi photography. Let’s get started!

    Meaning of lofi / lo-fi

Lofi or lo-fi refers to low-fidelity. That is a lower quality sound than the usual standards according to Wikipedia. By this point you may have already guessed that the phenomenon is more about music than anything else, even though Wikipedia offers a disambiguation page for this word.

Lo-fi music became known first in the ’90s according to many articles I could find but became trendy in the recent years. It is due the Lofi Girl and a lot to do with the pandemic as well. I had a longer article on this topic, please check What is lo-fi? to go deeper.

    Is it only music then?

Well, for most cases when someone mentions lo-fi, I guess so. I mean it is really about low-fidelity, referring to sound quality. It is music that will flood your Google search results if you enter “lofi”. On the other hand I love telling people that there are other aspects as well. One is definitely lo-fi photography. After all warm, vinyl vibe music requires some grainy film photos with lens flare, don’t you agree with me?

    Lo-fi in 2022

2022 is the perfect year to start listening to lo-fi music if you haven’t started yet. It is topping on Spotify and YouTube in terms of the number of new songs. More and more artists emerging. Different sub-genres to pop up every day. And your phone is to offer you more filmy effect apps than what you can download. In short, to my point of view lo-fi is really trending now. What makes lo-fi so trendy? Good question and a matter of taste. Still, let me offer view an overview on lo-fi trends for 2022.

    Chill you next time~

  • Beats with most videos 1-5

The best videos. The top5. Here we come! I shall now present you the top songs from my YouTube channel with the most videos. I hope you will enjoy this little article with 5 chill-out and lo-fi songs with creative (?) videos by Latte Chill

    5) Blackthorn – 7 videos

Vienna chill with lo-fi street photography, sunshine and walk. Really a perfect mood for the video. Blackthorn was inspired by Soul Silver game. All songs are 8-bit, chiptune ones with arpeggios and sampled notes. I used GameBoy and GameBoy Advance to achieve this sound.

    4) Sensu – 7 videos

Sensu is a dream chill-out, instrumental beat I composed as part of Tanabata EP. Funny thing that I composed the whole chill-out EP on one night. Making the bond between the songs much closer. They are really conveying the same feeling and message. Hopefully. Give it a spin!

As for the video, it is the start of a great journey. The Tokyo Trip in 2019. What can I say? Tokyo is really Tokyo. I made bunch of videos there. I hope you will have the time check some. It is really a place people should travel. Honestly.

    3) Endless Silence – 7 videos

Now this was a surprise to me. I mean it is my chill-out beat. But kinda. I never really tracked the songs I am using before. I am cautious not to use a song in a playlist too many times. Especially in trip playlists. But it was a surprise to see this nature chill beat in the top 3.

I chose an underwater video from Sardinia. It really shows the true vibe of the song. It is a nature chill-out song on one hand and a “floaty” on the other. I mean I might have overused reverb a bit, but it really gives me the vibe that I am floating, while listening to the song.

    2) Azalea – 7 videos

Inspired by the one and only Ueno Nezu Shrine. For several reasons I found this place unforgettable while we were in Tokyo. First, it is full of azaleas. And all were blooming back then. Secondly, we did not know about the place. It was not part of our quite in-depth plans. More like we bumped into it during a free time walk with my wife. Third, most likely other tourists were unaware of this place as well. Only local people were chill by this place. And lastly, just wow. Check the video and you will see what I mean. Such harmony, such peace. A lovely place!

    1) Midnight Melody – 8 videos

I rarely do noir as I am not confident in this genre. Although I love taking photos of Budapest in black and white, it is rare that I create a video out of them. This one is a rare example of me doing so. Latte Chill travelling the city, black and white edition. As for Midnight Melody. Well, it marks the return of Latte Chill in 2016. I guess it is no wonder I had the most videos with this song.

I hope you enjoyed this article. Follow for more and keep listening to lo-fi until then.
