About As the Sun Sets
As the Sun Sets EP is a milestone of Latte Chill’s identity. On one hand, it was my first nature-chill EP. On the other hand, I restarted musical activities in 2016-2017 with several royalty-free samples.
I was happy to compose music again. It meant releasing some EPs such as the oriental chill beat Chinese Restaurant or the space chill beat Bebop I. A full EP, where each songs are inspired by the episodes of the famous Cowboy Bebop anime.
I also released ReMixtery, an experimental chill beats EP reworking my very first album from 2007: Mixtery. I started focusing on album productions as well: I worked on a major sad chill project and finished Café Yami.
However in 2018, during the production of the Bebop 2 (demo) album, I decided to change things a bit and start composing my own beats. I mean not just melodies and chords, but the very drum beats and every bit of the songs. Whereas Bebop 2 ended up being the demo of this trial project. It was Earth-saga, including As the Sun Sets EP, Fire at Night EP, Clouds EP, and Earth chill album, that mastered this way of music production. They were the pioneer releases where I trained myself a bit by creating the “Earth” version of several songs I released during 2017 and 2018.
As the Sun Sets – the first nature chill EP
As you may guess, As the Sun Sets was the first chill EP of the saga, marking this change.
Apart from this, it was a pretty much nature-chill-focused saga. I know this genre does not really exist, though I believe it should. Nature-chill should be kind of a lo-fi-ish instrumental beat mainly using acoustic instruments (even if the music was recorded based on samples and VSTs). Tempo wise it has beats, unlike meditative songs but not as fast as chillhop or lo-fi hiphop.
Definitely, it is not an official Wiki definition. More my feelings, and how I worked on these materials.
