Why Leaf Green?
Leaf Green, my 12th album is very close to my heart. I started a project with Soul Silver in 2018 aiming to replay and relive my old retro fave games. Games I played with as a kid. And to be honest my fave Game Boy game ever is Pokémon Blue version from the end of 90es. This game offered me sooo much fun during my chill times that I even replayed the game numerous times since.
Of course needless to say I own every Pokémon games, released on handheld console so far (I am still considering Nintendo Switch as it costs hell much to be honest..)
Regardless, after returning and spending much more time with chill music, I wished to spice things up with specific topics. I released Cowboy Bebop inspired EPs, later I released an EP tributing Akira movie, and I started replaying Pokémon games – each one finished when I compiled a little pack of chill beats inspired by each city, town or certain places.
Genre: nature chill
Well, this is one part of the story. The other is that after Earth and Soul Silver albums I was in a pinch genre-wise: nature chill, was something I really liked during the production of Earth album. Chill beats inspired by the love of nature, along with many photos I shot around my past travels (specially outside, in a peaceful environment).
Whereas the latter was something terribly new: I sampled old Game Boy sounds to create a pack for self-use and composed chill songs based on these sounds. It was more chiptune, 8bit chill than nature chill. And yet, Soul Silver seemed to work quite well, even though my communication focus was on Earth during that time (fyi both albums were released in the same year with a couple of months difference).
At the end I decided to stick more to the original concept of nature chill beats but spiced the songs with arps to make it more modern and electronic. This is how Leaf Green album was born.

Yes, this many. I really loved producing this album. My return to nature chill beats after Earth was a moment I wanted to embrace. Not to mention (again), that the original Pokémon Blue was really-really close to my heart. When I started this project, I kept in mind that I will have high expectation from every track I produce.

About Leaf Green songs
Pallet
Pallet is the first track of Leaf Green album, but also the beginning of a journey. Ash set off to catch’em all from Pallet. Red starts his journey from Pallet. We also rediscover this little village before we travel Kanto. Nature chill beats as genre is a perfect choice to bring back the memories.
Viridian
Journey: ON! First let’s head to Viridian, the city of vibe and new start. In the game this is a place you are to return quite a couple of time. As a song I decided to produce happy vibe with arpeggios so that many people will listen to this song over and over again. I hope I was able to succeed in creating such peaceful but happy nature chill vibe.
Pewter
Getting melancholic before a long run in the caves. Pewter city is the first place to get your first gym badge versus Brock, but also the place, where you need to gather strength before a long and dark journey of Zubats and Geodudes. I intended to create a calm and slow song here to bring back my feelings when I was in this city in the game. I used hand pan VST and acoustic drum set.
Cerulean
That moment when you get out of a long rush, the moment when you feel, you can take a break before continuing your journey. In Leaf Green, Cerulean is this place. Though you are to face Misty for the second gym badge, still you are in the nature, you see water, you have new challenges, you fight your way to Bill. What a place. We might even ride the bicycle a bit later, right?

Vermilion
The city by the shore inspired me to create another happy vibe melodical nature chill song. I used arpeggios to add movement to acoustic set of drums and slowed down to fit chill genre. What else? Some Tokyo videos and shots? Check them below:
Lavender
The town of ghosts, the place where all pokémon soul lies. After happiness, sadness to come. This is Lavender of Leaf Green. A little town up in the mountains with chill and calmness.
Celadon
This song was a bit tricky. To me Celadon is a weird city. On one hand it is quite big. Not as big as Saffron but having casino and mall with gym etc makes it quite big. On the other hand I always felt relaxed arriving here after the ghost challenge in Lavender. As I compose my songs in chill genre, I decided to emphasise on the latter, still I guess you get my challenge.
Saffron
This time it was about size – ending up composing one of my longest songs. Not just on this chill beats album but overall as Latte Chill. Saffron is another place you are to spend quite a couple of hours. Therefore I wished to work on a song you can listen longer.
Fuchsia
Getting closer to the end, we had to Fuchsia. Both game-wise and music-wise. Enjoy the moment and don’t get poisoned. If you know what I mean…
Cinnabar
End of a story, end of Leaf Green nature chill beats album. A sad song at the end reflecting the volcano island of Cinnabar, the origin of Mewtwo and the last (well not entirelly – I mean Viridian) gym. Thanks for checking my album and read my stories behind the titles.

I would highly recommend my nature chill underwater footage in Sardegna, titled: Sardegna 38 – Underwater World 13 – Cerulean – Latte Chill as well as the Ship Trip video on the same island. If you are into travel videos, you may find 2 videos from Aachen (Germany) and some misc video+photo footage from Graz (Austria), Szentendre (Hungary), Fürstenfeld (Austria) and Tokyo (Japan).
If you liked Leaf Green
Check out Earth album, my first truly nature chill beats album from 2018. This album inspired many of my latter releases such as Leaf Green. Using acoustic beat samples with reverb. Adding echo and strings with lead piano. Tricks of the genre I tested out on this release. I believe you will enjoy the synergy between these releases. Give it a try and let me know if you got what I mean.
Another choice would be Tokyo19. It is not entirely considered as nature chill beats EP but the joy of a phenomenon was the purpose I put it on the second place. Whereas Leaf Green is close to my as one of my fave kid game – Tokyo19 is close to me as it marks my first journey to Tokyo, Japan. Ultimately it consists many nature chill beats songs such as Sushi Passage and Sakura Beat.
Lastly no surprise maybe seeing Soul Silver at the end of the similar list. This was my first game inspired full album release. An experimental chiptune one using Game Boy sounds sampled with Ableton Live. The production process of this release is pretty different from Leaf Green but both relies on the passion I have toward the game series. Listen it with care and love!
