    The Inspiration Behind Exotica Mix

My inspiration for Exotica Mix comes from the Moon album, where I aimed to create beats that were not just peaceful but exotic at the same time. While nature chill is akin to a tranquil walk in the woods, an exotic chill is more dynamic and adventurous, reminiscent of sailing on the sea or encountering rare sights.

Musically, Exotica Mix incorporates a variety of arpeggios in different pentatonic scales, pushing the boundaries of sound design to create an immersive experience. My goal was to craft beats that transport listeners to places they rarely encounter, offering a sense of adventure and discovery.

Albums and EPs Featuring Exotica Beats

The Exotica Mix isn’t just a standalone experience; it’s part of a broader musical journey found in several albums and EPs:

    1. Moon: The album that started it all, filled with exotic chill beats.
    2. Leaf Green: A nature chill album with a few tracks leaning towards exotic.
    3. Orange: Initially intended to be exotic but evolved into a mellow, unique soundscape.

    EPs:

    • A Drop of Water: Featuring one of my favorite beats, “Faro Solitaro.”
    • Clouds: Another EP with tracks that complement the exotic vibe.

    What makes Exotica Mix unique?

Exotica Mix stands out due to its blend of exotic and chill beats, designed to evoke a sense of adventure and relaxation simultaneously. The use of arpeggios in pentatonic scales and innovative sound design contributes to its unique sound.

Exotica Mix is more than just music; it’s a journey. Whether you’re looking to relax, focus, or simply escape the everyday grind, these beats offer a perfect backdrop. So, sit back, press play, and let the sounds of Exotica Mix transport you to a world of serene seas and exotic adventures.

  • 8Bit Madness from Soul Silver: A Retro Chiptune Experience

As an artist deeply rooted in the world of lofi and chill beats, exploring the realm of chiptune music with my latest project, 8Bit Madness from Soul Silver, has been an exhilarating journey.

This live session, performed on my balcony on April 12, 2020, brings a nostalgic touch to my usual laidback style. I intended to merge the classic 8-bit sounds of video game music with modern chill beats.

What is 8Bit Madness from Soul Silver?

8Bit Madness from Soul Silver is my first venture into chiptune. Into a genre that uses the sound chips from vintage computers, (video game) consoles, and arcade machines to create music.

This live performance is a tribute to the iconic sounds of early video games, particularly inspired by the Pokémon series, specifically the Soul Silver. The session was recorded live on my balcony. I wished to capture not only the unique sound but also the ambiance of a sunny day with a gentle breeze.

    Setlist
    00:00 Cherrygrove
    02:05 Azalea
    04:57 Olivine

These tracks are my personal favorites from the Soul Silver LP, a Pokémon-inspired sketch album. Each beat was created using Game Boy soundfonts, giving them an authentic chiptune vibe. Despite the improvisational nature of the album, these particular tracks stood out as they were both enjoyable to perform and resonated well with the nostalgic theme.

The Inspiration Behind 8Bit Madness from Soul Silver

Creating 8Bit Madness from Soul Silver was both a challenge and a delight. Having primarily performed as a singer in my previous live sessions, transitioning to keyboard performance for this chiptune mini-live was a significant shift. However, the sunny day and the serene atmosphere of my balcony provided the perfect backdrop for this new experiment.

The decision to delve into chiptune music stemmed from my love for video games and their soundtracks. The Pokémon series, in particular, has always been a source of inspiration for me. The melodies from these games evoke a sense of adventure and nostalgia. This is the vibe that I aimed to capture in my live performance.

Dive into the World of Chiptune

Exploring the chiptune genre through 8Bit Madness from Soul Silver has been an exciting venture, allowing me to blend my passion for retro video game music with my love for creating chill beats. Whether you’re looking to focus, or simply enjoy a nostalgic trip down memory lane, this performance offers a unique auditory experience.

So, sit back, press play, and let the 8-bit sounds transport you to the world of Pokémon and beyond. Enjoy the beats, and if you like what you hear, let me know—there’s always more music to come!

First Live at Home Stay – Latte Chill [Live Balcony 20/03/28] #stayhome

    Setlist
    00:00 Midnight Melody (Earth ver.)
    03:52 Moon Rabbit
    07:17 Faro Solitaro

My story of First Live at Home Stay

First chill beats live performance on our balcony during the lock-down.

It is quite short (only 3 songs total), but well… it has been like years since I was on stage last time. So I decided to use everything to be little stages around me to share my chill beats and lofi vibe.

Honesty it felt great to be there again.

This time I decided to use my instruments and perform semi-live as part of the home stay performance. That means I set up Ableton Live with projects but muted the main lines and played them live on my Launchkey 25. This way I both controlled the song and in a way performed. Assuming that I mainly performed as a singer during my rock era in Dark Cherry, it was quite a challenge to me to focus on keys and overall the whole song.

    Why these chill songs?

I needed to keep in mind that I am lacking a bit of actual performing and getting used to creating chill music in studio, being able to rerecord anything many times I want. Therefore I chose songs that had the biggest impact to me but I was still able to play and remember for this first time. To be honest I had to restart at least twice before being able to play them all the way I wanted. I hope you will like the results and I was able to show you the chill vibe I wished to show during those days. I mean, we all had tough times in 2020. My choice was to focus more what chills me down in order to keep my pace in the hard days.

First song is Midnight Melody (Earth version). As you may guess this song is very close to me. It was the first song of the Latte Chill era, marking my return to active music scene after years of break. It was originally released on my first chill beats EP called Chinese Restaurant in 2017. A year later I released a major nature chill set EPs and album (aka Earth-saga). I self-covered the songs for 2017 and 2018 – this is how Earth version was born.

Moon Rabbit was born on a single night along with 5 more songs. I found some dope chill VTSs and I decided to test them. I built up the exact same instrument rack in Ableton Live and sketched 5 songs in one night. It was Tanabata, I released in 2018 by the end of the year.

Finally Faro Solitaro. A song that was inspired by the nature and our trip to Sardegna. During a boat trip we travelled to the island of San Pietro (Southern-West from Portoscuso) I saw a beautiful lighthouse being alone on the edge of the island. At that time I told myself that I need to compose a nature chill song one day that recaps my feelings being on the sea, enjoying the summer but still thinking of that one lighthouse being alone, far from the city… far from everyone else. I hope I was able to succeed in it. What do you think?

    Why now?

Latte Chill project (previously known as pszabi and Oshare Booty) was just about to hit 13 years, whereas me as composer working on music (started in The 21st Cherry Boys / T21CB) was on the field for 14 years that day. I felt like I had to upload something. Even if it is that little of a chill moment. A little live. But something.

    Why on the balcony?

🙂 We faced lock-down in Hungary due to Covid19. We were asked by our government to stay at home however spring just came. After a long and very difficult winter spring really shows us a hope for a better weather (for some a better world). I suddenly felt motivated again, willing to do something new besides my singles and chill releases, so I decided to record a live.

    More to come?

Definitely. More free chill lives to come. Not all on my balcony but I guess it will be part of Latte Chill project to offer more music, let it be new albums or EPs, chill mixes, lofi sets – anything that makes my listeners happy.
