About ReMirakels
ReMirakels chiptune EP was inspired by Mirakels album. It was the first album of my experimental rock band, The 21st Cherry Boys. My first ever band. 12 years later I decided to rework our first ever songs in chiptune genre. The EP’s predecessor was Soul Silver album. Back then I though it is a good idea to move away from nature chill a bit. Earth album was fun to work on, but tiring as well.
As a result, I started doing experiments with synth OSTs and also restarted playing on my Nintendo 2DS.
Two worlds colliding in chiptune
Funny title but gives back the essence. I was really got lost again in playing on Pokémon games (*coughs* Leaf Green, Orange, Moon, Ultra Moon, Ultra Sun…). Pokémon lived its best on Game Boy (and Advance) but was able to evolve over the years. I started from the beginning to ensure consistency.
Whereas from musical perspective, I started working on beats based on the cities in the game. Coming back to ReMirakels – I ended up working on some chiptune beats. The results were fairly good. My audience liked it better than expected. As a second round therefore I decided to rework an old album in the same 8bit genre. The purpose was nothing more but experimenting.
Music production in chiptune
Well. It was different. I was using completely different soundfonts and VSTs, I would generally touch. Essentially it had a longer learn curve than I encounter during music production. I also restricted myself in terms of the lines. I mean I did not wish to get far away from simplicity. My aim was more a funny, upbeat pack or releases.
Clearly, it meant a change is mastering as well. These type of sounds might be more harsh on the same sound level. I mean chill uses warmth, soft beats with tons of reverb. Video game music has much less reverb and more sidechain. As a results I changed the master rack in this 2 areas.
Lastly, APRs. Arpeggios are kind of fun and essential for chiptune beats. I needed to build some directly in Ableton. Further added some through free VSTs.

Chill Mixtery with ReMirakels
Chill Mixtery #4 is out and loud. Nature and oriental chill-out beats with a hint of lo-fi. A selection from 10 EPs from 2018-2019. In case you are interested in them, you can scroll until the end of the tracklist and find the links to all my releases on stream platforms free.
This time the mix is well over 90 minutes (truth to be told just under 100) with a total number of 32 songs including collabs with guitarists as well as remakes of my old art-rock bands’ songs. In short a variety of instrumental music carefully selected.
