Ultra Moon

Why Ultra Moon?

Ultra Moon is originally inspired by my old love towards Pokémon games. Lately (since 2018) I started a little project by replaying and in a way revisiting my old regions by playing those games again but adding a twist: without sound the much I can so I am sampling new music inspired by the visual vibe of the areas.

In 2019 I released an album called Moon inspired by both Pokémon Moon and my travels in the Mediterranean area. The genre was clearly nature chill.

But then Nintendo released Ultra Moon. A game I of course finished aBut then Nintendo released Ultra Moon. A game I of course finished and gave me a new challenge: how to add something new to a concept I barely finished?

After several ideas and concepts I decided to do the following. I bought a PO-33 KO, a little music sampler released by Teenage Engineering and sampled the same instruments I used during Moon project. The challenge was that this little gadget is perfect for lofi music creation but has several limitations: it is only able to handle 4 lines, less freedom in tempo adjusting and arpeggio programming. But a more analogue vibe and fun to work on existing songs. To offer something new as well, I decided to split the Moon songs into two (Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun) and added some more songs based on famous trails or mountains. Therefore I was able to compose new songs and offer new melodies to the listeners.

Genre: lofi, nature chill out

Moon album was originally part of my nature chill-saga such as Earth album or Leaf Green, but as it was produced on a more lofi device, the PO-33 KO – I consider it as a mix of lofi and nature chill.

Similar to Wabi-Sabi album, the songs of Ultra Moon were recorded live, so I will be sharing tons of live videos playing on my PO-33 KO on my Youtube Channel.

My favourite songs from Ultra Moon

Ma Halo Trail
Verdant Cavern
Melemele Sea
Ten Carat Hill
Paniola (Ultra Moon version)
Lush Jungle
Koni Koni (Ultra Moon version)

Rare setup: my fave songs are not all in the top 5! In Ultra Moon album the areas, the towns and cities defined the mood of the songs and their order as well. This album might be more raw compare to Wabi-Sabi, where I sampled jazzy songs for a warm vibe, while in case of Ultra Moon I relied on the nature chill instruments and arpeggios of Moon album. Both albums where produced similarly, yet the outcome is different due to the instruments.

Listen to Ultra Moon nature lofi, chill out album on Youtube

35 minutes of exotic nature chill songs produced on lo-fi genre. Enjoy Ultra Moon for free, no ads planned to be added between the songs. Ultra Moon is fully instrumental as most of Latte Chill songs. A mid-tempo album that helps you focus on your studies and tasks at your workplace. No breaks, no vocal chops.

If you have the chance, please support my work either on my Ko-fi page or simply by listening to these songs on any of the stream platforms as I get few cents from them every month.

About Ultra Moon songs

Iki (Ultra Moon version)
Inspired by the original Iki song featured on Moon album in 2019. Easy vibe, simple melody. Kind of a story starter song – that was my aim, when I originally composed Iki and this concept remained while I was working on Iki (Ultra Moon version).

Ma Halo Trail
New song already? Yes. My aim was not to remix Moon album, but offer new songs to my listeners. I had just enough single compilations and remix albums for 2021. Ultra Moon is different. Ma Halo Trail is a happy song enjoying the summer vibe of the fictional place, Alola – to me a perfect opportunity for a nature chill song, produces with minimal lofi beats.

“Ma halo” means “what is” in Arabian. I used the opportunity to reflect on what is our road, what is the trail to follow. A short lofi beat that may make you think about what do you want to do in the next days, weeks or even offers you a moment to think further.

Hauoli (Ultra Moon version)
Hauoli is a little town close-by. Not much of travel in the game, so no 3. on Ultra Moon album is Hauoli (Ultra Moon version), a new-old song inspired by Hauoli, originally released in 2019. This song was more of a challenge to remake on PO-33 KO, as it has more melodies then what was possible on my gadget as well as the chord changes that are more tricky to program with Pocket Operators. To be clear: it is not impossible to cover it better but right now it goes further than what I am capable off. Next to composing new songs every month for you, I spend my time getting better with my instruments as well. 🙂

Adding some new effects to change mood

Verdant Cavern
New song again~
Verdant Cavern got its name after a beautiful, yet slightly melancholic forest place in Ultra Moon. A place I envisioned on the album with koto and flute to offer a more oriental vibe compare to some other songs from this release.

Melemele Sea
One of my very-very fave songs from Ultra Moon. I loved working on the song, no wonder I decided to add it as a single song to boost spotlight around this one. You can grab it at the end of the article, so keep scrolling down~

Melemele means ‘yellow’ in Hawaiian – the yellow sea. I know for the majority of us sea is more blue, or greenish blue but yellow? To me it was more like the shore. The yellow sand mixing with the crystal clear sea waves where you can walk by the end of the day looking for some shells to boost your collection.

Do you feel the same listening to this song?

Ten Carat Hill
Progressing further in the game, we get to Ten Carat Hill on Route 1. I used the same synth instrument I used during the production of Koni Koni but this song is slower and slightly sadder.

Hea Hea (Ultra Moon version)
Getting to a new city, Hea Hea, meaning we get to a major place to heal our buddies and chill by the shore with a coffee. I played up this song with strong bass and beats along with a single solo instrument on my PO-33 intending to grab that dreamy moment when you space out watching people walking, sitting by a coffee or cake out on the streets.

Mixing up instruments a bit

Paniola (Ultra Moon version)
Such a place. Like getting from the urban good to the peaceful western town. But is it peaceful? Surely not in the game. This is why it is Pokémon.
Still I emphasised on the peaceful moments with true lofi vibe and slow, mellow solo line.

Brooklet Hill
Little happy vibe song. We are up in the mountains enjoying the sun passing through the trees and the shadow along with the slight breeze. Hearing the sound of the leaves and the life surrounding us.
True lofi beats with kicks and snares mainly not to shift the focus off the solo instruments

Wela Volcano
Wela Volcano is more menacing. Respect the nature, respect volcanos. Heavy lofi beats to begin with, followed by high pitched mellow piano to soothe your mind a beat. Still beats remain to drive your attention.
Probably this is how I was working on this song after finishing this area in Ultra Moon.

Lush Jungle
One of my fave songs from this album. Pretty tribal yet totally lofi the same time. What a mix. I intended to create a bit of jungle-ish vibe. More action than the peaceful type of forent trip (like Brooklet Hill). I also added more oriental melody line and arps to boost this vibe.

Returning to the roots at the end

Memorial Hill
True oriental chill with lofi beats. Nature chill at its max with PO-33 KO. A song that is to chill you down, offering a couple of moments peace with Asian flute and the play of koto.

Koni Koni (Ultra Moon version)
My fave song from Moon album. You may guess how many times I rerecorded it before I was able to record this one live without mistakes. I mean there are songs, where the song itself is able to bring you far away and makes you unable to focus that you are actually recording it. What a feeling.
Koni Koni (Ultra Moon version) is to close this album, an oriental lofi vibe beat produced on PO-33 with a hint of nature chill to boost your vibe.

Chill Mixtery #7 featuring Ultra Moon

Chill Mixtery #7 is out with 26 songs. More than an hour long lo-fi mix featuring albums from 2021 and 2022. This mix marks the start of PO-33 KO. A new instrument I bought in the early 2021 and used as a primary instrument in case of my recent albums.

This hefty mix features the following albums: Wabi-Sabi. An Asian oriental chill-out album and the first full album produced with PO-33. It was followed by Ultra Moon. The first recap of Moon album: nature chill-out in lo-fi. More simple. Easier to listen. And again, composed on PO-33. I was using these times (2021 summer) to master that pocket sampler. The second half was titled Ultra Sun. Similarly to Ultra Moon, the release featured tons of new songs inspired by the Pokémon game I was playing on. The forth release is titled Sapphire. Inspired by a video game as well, the most songs on the other hand were composed during my holiday in Lefkada. No DAWs or samples, only my PO-33 KO and one set of sounds. I enjoyed this way of creative work. Finally, Travellers. One of my biggest lo-fi projects in the past years.

Winter Mix for 2022 is a chill-out and lo-fi beats compilation including many Latte Chill songs from last year. I intended to make it a bit sad, more sad chill than usual. After all it is pretty much the middle of winter.

You are to listen to an hour long background music (maybe some vocal chops, but rarely) with true warmth of lo-fi, vinyl aura and quality chill beats. No ads in-between, hopefully a perfect set matching your mood.

Use it as focus or study music. Hit play button and let it roll. No animations or videos so it does not require huge bandwidth.

Enjoy the moment and see the list of tracks used below. In case you are interested in any of them, check my website below or simply drop a comment.

Best lofi, nature chill songs and videos from Ultra Moon album

Choose this playlist, if are into true summer vibe lofi videos shot by me. I usually use my smartphone (currently Honor 20 Pro) to capture the moments I wish to show you and feature them with my songs. This set contains some macro videos as well but mainly focuses on my PO-33 KO live records. I recorded almost the whole album live, wherefore I can offer bunch of live beats videos that may help you imagine my workflow as well as boost your motivation as well to drop some beats on Youtube.

If you liked Ultra Moon

Moon Latte Chill

Choose Moon album, if are interested in the original melodies of the Mediterranean Sea inspired nature chill beats. This album is less lofi and focuses more on acoustic vibe with arps and beats. Still, many of the songs will be pretty similar as I reworked them on my PO-33.

Leaf Green Latte Chill

Leaf Green might be your choice if you like nature chill vibe with arps and Pokémon inspired music. This album was released couple of months before Moon album and heavily influenced both Moon and Ultra Moon albums. What else I can say? Kanto is waiting for you!

Wabi-Sabi lofi chill beats

Finally, Wabi-Sabi. The first full lofi album produced with PO-33 KO. The little sampler that offers so much fun to me nowdays. Wabi-Sabi is all about imperfect melodies. An art that is good the way it is. More mellow beats with lofi piano and chords still the essence is the same as Ultra Moon.
