The year 2020 was undeniably a turning point. With a global shift in pace and priorities, it’s no surprise that music reflected these changes. The calming, introspective nature of lo-fi and chillhop genres saw a surge in popularity, offering a much-needed escape for listeners everywhere.
As a musician who creates instrumental beats, I found myself personally drawn to this introspective style throughout 2020. While my overall output decreased compared to previous years, the music I did create held a deeper, more contemplative feel.
