Wabi-Sabi album is heavily building on ikigai. That means the “reason for being”. The concept of waking up every day and doing what you do according to Japanese culture. I went more in-depth on this matter as part of the album description linked above. So click if you are interested.
The point is that the album title literally means “chilling alone”. A kind of being for yourself, thinking. I thought this is the perfect title for an instrumental chill album, I believe perfect for focus time. It has soothing beats, happy vibe songs and even sad chill ones. Offering a range of moods and this way you also have the chance to go over the different vibes.
Why is it important?
I believe and this is the key message of Monte Cristo as well: you can only be truly happy if you have been truly sad. You can only enjoy life if you have the different moods right, so at the end enjoy what you have.

About Sakura Beat chillhop sets
Sakura beat is your perfect mix of oriental chill and chillhop beats from Latte Chill releases. I chose songs from various EPs and albums, mixing them well on every release. Firstly, I started this set with Tokyo19 EP, a truly oriental release of mine. I mean I composed all songs based on my trip to Japan in 2019.
On the other hand I added several songs from Color Scheme. My experimental release where all sampled instruments were traditional Asian ones. All chord progressions where Far Eastern pentatonic and all song titles were inspired by Japanese stories.
Tanabata is another example for thematic Asian beats in Latte Chill discography. I believe it is quite a challenge to create a complete EP in one night. Furthermore with one set. I guess it is even more rare that the EP becomes successful. But this IS the story behind Tanabata. Read more through the link.
Featuring guest artist is never easy. But I pushed my limits with Zeitgeist Guitarist, where 5 songs out of 6 were composed together with a fellow artist. Check this EP for the full list of guitar chill collaborations.
More about Sakura beats and albums featured
Oriental chill and nature chill as genres are quite close to each other. I often like mixing them during my music production. This is why I could add a chillhop song from Moon album to this mix. This song is also available for free. Scroll below and grab it.
Now if Orange is the new Black or not, I wonder. But definitely I have an album titled as Orange and a song on the roaster of this mix for you. Fun fact: I am planning to have a Black album as well. Maybe one day.
Mixing chillhop beats with chiptune? Is it possible? I wonder. Still, check Soul Silver. My attempt in 2018 to sample Game Boy Advance notes with chill beats.
I further added little little melody song’s ReMixtery version. Available for free below. Bebop I. was released in the very same year in 2017. Space beats were added to spice Sakura Beat vibe.
With regards to more nature chill. As the Sun Sets and Clouds offer great support with acoustic beats and piano mixed together. Lastly I wish to mention few more Latte Chill songs I chose from: Chinese Restaurant, Dragonic Eve and Bebop IV.
Sakura Beat by Latte Chill – the first of a long series. I plan to work on more cherry blossom inspired Japanese oriental chill-out mixes. Cherry Blossom is a great event in Japan and all over the World symbolizing the reborn of nature. Commonly know as Sakura. This is my hour long tribute to the event.
Last year I had the chance to be in Japan, Tokyo during the cherry blossom, for more, click below:

Sakura Beat songs were chosen from many albums
Oriental chill is pretty much part of my beats, but I kind of scatter them on different albums. In these mixes I fuse my past (even 10+ year old) LPs with my latest releases to offer a timeless sakura beat mix.
I have chosen beats from Earth nature chill album. Year 2017 also delegated an oriental chill beat ‘South Chinese Sea’. Leaf Green became number three on my list. Lavender offers a bitter but cleansing vibe to the listener. It matches the feeling you may encounter if you have ever played with Pokémon Red/Blue games.
Moon offered the opening beat ‘Iki’ for Sakura Beat. Contrary to Leaf Green’s Lavender, Iki is happy and upbeat. It brings back the sunny vibe of the mix. Orange is another example for nature chill beats I desired to feature on Sakura Beat.
Memories of the Untold is an album from the past. While I cannot say it is a fully oriental one. It has lots of songs inspired by the Far East. Two of them are being featured on Sakura Beat. Finally, Dragonic Eve closes the mix with ‘Epilogue’.
Few more EPs are also being featured on Sakura Beat mix
Starting with Chinese Restaurant. An EP fully dedicated to the Far East and therefore a must for Sakura Beat mix. Followed by Tokyo19, the oriental EP I produced inspired by my trip to Tokyo in 2019. Color Scheme also features songs on the mix. This EP is an interesting one: I feature traditional Asian instruments only on the release. Furthermore all songs are in pentatonic scale that were used in China mainly.
Fire at Night is part of Earth story, one of the first nature chill beats from 2018. Tanabata on the other hand brought 2 songs, both dreamy yet oriental.
